Meet George!
11 year old, 16hh, Tennessee Walking Horse
George is a beautiful, correctly built Tennessee Walking Horse. His ground-covering stride is magnificent and he embodies the best traits the breed is known for. His endearing expression begs for attention and he appreciates a kind and predictable routine.
He is currently being offered as pasture and light riding (walk) sound, but with continued correct farrier work our vet anticipates that he will be sound for more in the future. He had a long period of incorrect trimming prior to his rescue and as such had crushed and underrun heels leading to intermittent lameness at a flat or running walk.
George dealt with a lot of unpredictability prior to coming to Freedom Reigns Ranch so he is suspicious of intentions of people but is smart and learning. He is still working on not being afraid of vehicles but is making strides of progress.
George is best suited for an intermediate horse person who understands equine behavior and values relationship-based training. An R+ (positive reinforcement) home would be an excellent fit to help him continue growing in confidence. No buck or rear under saddle. If he thinks a vehicle is chasing him he scoots forward a few steps and turns toward it. He tries hard to please and is looking for a great, fair, and kind leader to help bring out his best.
He is available for adoption.
Adoption fee: $1,500
Please note: Adoption fees are set in order to ensure adequate homes. The rehabilitation process for an emaciated horse with no physical needs or therapeutic shoeing (simply hay, vet, dental, farrier, feed, supplements, and care) for the first 6 months of rehabilitation is an average of $6,000+). Donations toward the costs incurred to rehabilitate an adoptable horse are always greatly appreciated.

The process to adopt
Our heart is to connect the right horse, with the right forever family, while ensuring the well being of the horse for the remainder of their life. Because of this, we have a vetted adoption process that we follow for all of our adoptions.
We recognize that adoption is not right for everyone, as it does come with additional responsibilities that a typical horse sale process wouldn't include, but we hope you recognize our heart and willingness to work with each person to ensure a great match. These horses have seen the worst humanity can show them, and now we get to help them learn about the best!
