"Nehemiah, George, and Sparrow had their photos taken for their adoption profiles last week. We think they all look pretty stunning 🤩.
It’s so hard to believe that these beautiful horses came in as emaciated rescues (Sparrow and Nehemiah) and now are shining with health and ready for forever homes!
While we’d love to keep all of our rescue horses, if we did so we wouldn’t be able to help more. Help us make room for more by considering welcoming one to your home!
Sparrow: 24 year old, 14.2hh, QHx gelding (sound for any work)
Nehemiah: 14 year old, 15hh, grade gelding (sound for any work)
George: 11 year old, 16hh, Tennessee Walking Horse (currently sound for light riding)
Their full adoption profiles, including all vet records, are available by emailing horses@freedomreignsranch.com."

"This little guy and his siblings had a rough day.
When we went into the arena today we discovered several baby birds had fallen from their nest at a high point in the roof. We made a makeshift nest with a grazing muzzle and hay in the shade on one of the barn posts. The mom found them and we hope they’ll make it!"

"George - 11 year old, 16hh Tennessee Walking Horse, gelding
George is a beautiful, correctly built Tennessee Walking Horse. His ground-covering stride is magnificent and he embodies the best traits the breed is known for. His endearing expression begs for attention and he appreciates a kind and predictable routine.
He is currently being offered as pasture and light riding (walk) sound, but with continued correct farrier work our vet anticipates that he will be sound for more in the future. He had a long period of incorrect trimming prior to his rescue and as such had crushed and underrun heels leading to intermittent lameness at a flat or running walk.
George dealt with a lot of unpredictability prior to coming to Freedom Reigns Ranch so he is suspicious of intentions of people but is smart and learning. He is still working on not being afraid of vehicles but is making strides of progress.
George is best suited for an intermediate horse person who understands equine behavior and values relationship-based training. An R+ (positive reinforcement) home would be an excellent fit to help him continue growing in confidence. No buck or rear under saddle. If he thinks a vehicle is chasing him he scoots forward a few steps and turns toward it. He tries hard to please and is looking for a great, fair, and kind leader to help bring out his best.
He’s a low guy on the totem pole, but not a total pushover, in the pasture and is a pleasure to be around.
He is available for adoption.

"Sparrow - 24 year old, 14.1hh Quarter Horse x (hackney? Morgan?)
Sparrow is a spicy little guy looking for a person who wants to play!
He is a gentleman under saddle and tries his heart out. He is game for just about anything including exploring his first jumps (which we realized he had a talent for when he cleared a 3’ hung log with ease in his pasture after a storm!). He is solid at the walk and trot and is learning his balance at the canter. No buck, bolt, or rear under saddle. He is incredibly smart and is a confident dude with a great work ethic. He even knows how to line himself up to the mounting block so you can hop on with ease!
Sparrow has been with us 1 year and in that time has had a remarkable turn around in every way. He was rescued from a junkyard shed and came in as an emaciated BCS 1 with ulcerated sarcoids covering his face. He is now healthy and a fairly easy keeper with great feet and has never been unsound. Though sarcoids remain, they are reduced over 75% in a year’s time and we believe will continue in that direction with a topical cream (equiade) and appropriate fly control. They do not affect him even though they’re a little unsightly.
Sparrow was gelded very late in life and as such, in the pasture and on the ground he still thinks like a stallion. Thankfully the behavior does not carry over to being under saddle- even if he is next to mares in heat. He respects fences and even shares a fence line with a mare, but can get possessive of pasture mates. He does get unsettled when pasture mates leave him (he will run the fence line) but settles. He never disrespects fences, he just has to express how he feels. As such, he would require being pastured with geldings and a confident handler on the ground who understands his brain.
If it wasn’t for his stallion-like tendencies we would consider him suitable for an intermediate owner. However, due to this behavior, he will require an advanced-knowledgable home. He is available for adoption or care lease (we have offered this option for Sparrow due to his age).
Call 615-721-2550 for more information or to make an appointment to meet him. An approved adoption application is required for an appointment."

"**UPDATE: ADOPTION PENDING**
Nehemiah - 14 year old, 15hh gaited type that trots (Racking horse?)
Nehemiah’s personality is the very definition of kindness. He has overcome a lot in life and genuinely is one of the kindest horses we’ve met. His beautiful deep liver chestnut coat, remarkable soundness, and willingness to do whatever is asked of him once he understands will make a very special horse for someone.
He is a more “woah” than “go” type. Even though he is likely a racking horse, he trots, and we can see him doing well in a variety of careers. He is green under saddle, but genuinely desires to please and would be suitable for an intermediate rider who wants to bring along their own horse. We’ve only been working at the walk and trot as he only recently achieved his required weight gain from arriving as an emaciated BCS 1 at the end of February. Has always been sound, even when he came in with horrible feet. The only thing he really doesn’t like is fly spray or being sprayed with the hose, but he is learning and progressing well.
Nehemiah does have sheer mouth (dental malocclusion) that is in progress of being corrected. He will need a few additional dental appointments to gradually continue to correct the malocclusion and a few extra chiropractic visits for TMJ as that correction happens. As such, he is still requires about 12lbs of alfalfa pellets and 4lbs of senior grain per day (in addition to free-choice forage) to help make up for the challenge of masticating his feed. Once he can fully chew like a normal horse again, he should be an easy keeper.
He is available for adoption.

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us Free!" - Galatians 5:1
The name Freedom Reigns Ranch isn't by chance- it is what we want the banner over this place to be and what we want everyone to experience who walks through our gate. It is, indeed, for freedom that Christ has set us free! We reflect on that truth today as we celebrate the 4th.
Have a fun and safe 4th of July, everyone!"
