After being born in the dirty conditions of a local auction, Promise faced an unknown fate. The auction house discussed killing the baby and selling her mother, Hope, when a kind soul stepped forward to purchase them both. Promise's life was saved and she and her mother went to go live in a loving home. Times grew tough and their former owner struggled to give them to care they needed so when she heard about Freedom Reigns, she jumped at the opportunity to surrender them to us. Promise and her mother, Hope, came to the Ranch malnourished and weary. Both had not received much handling but thrived under the care of our volunteers and participants. We discovered that Promise is allergic to flies and requires specific care to manage that allergy. They recovered quickly and Hope went on to be adopted by a caring volunteer while Promise remained to be a full time Session horse. Promise is a sweet, quiet mare who takes everything in stride. She had never been ridden before so she is in training for that but is a gentle and sweet partner on the ground. She took to Session life quickly and enjoys being doted upon and loved by so many. We are so grateful for the miracle of her life!
