"As we begin the process of turning toward 2026, we are excited to present to you all of the various ways you can partner with us in the coming year to ignite hope with the help of a horse.
On these pages you'll see our entire budget for the coming year and how we put your valuable gifts to work to help children and young adults who have been through trauma in Middle Tennessee.
In 2026 we aim to serve 275 participants in sessions.
Provide over 4,100 hours of programming, 3,000 of those being in mentorship programs.
And welcome over 1,000 guests to the Ranch...
We can only do it with your support!
Our facility is dedicated entirely to our mission and all staff efforts, every volunteer hour, and each dollar sowed into the Ranch supports hope being ignited in hearts and lives being redeemed- both horse and human alike!
We invite you to partner with us this coming year by selecting one (or more) of the necessities in this Lookbook- there are significant ways to help for as little as $11 per month. What way do you feel led to give?"

"Colic is something that every horse owner dreads. It can be something as simple as pain from gas or far more complicated and life-threatening.
Thankfully because of our amazing vet Dr Mark (Equine Performax Therapy and Conditioning) , when Cyrus’ colic symptoms persisted yesterday he got quick intervention. Unfortunately when the pain meds wore off, symptoms resumed requiring an overnight referral to Tennessee Equine Hospital where we brought him for more intensive care.
His symptoms persisted, but after several hours of NG tube and IV fluids and are now starting to lessen. We’re hopeful and praying that the positive trend continues and that he will get to come home from the “horsepital” tomorrow.
Please join us in continuing to pray for his healing. We already miss our silly Cyrus and his antics that leave us all laughing and smiling.
As you can imagine, emergency vet trips and hospitalizations are quite expensive. If you are able to help with his medical expenses, we would be so grateful.
Thankfully in 11 years we’ve had relatively very few emergencies and only three hospitalizations. But horses are horses and when they do require care, the costs mount quickly.
You can give on this post or below has the ways you can give toward Cyrus’ care."

"Colic symptoms: this is what Colic presented like with Cyrus yesterday afternoon. Symptoms can vary widely based on the individual animal, but this is a good example of some typical symptoms:
🐴 parking out/straining to urinate stance
🐴 looking at flank/biting belly
🐴 lip curling (flehmen response)
🐴 kicking at belly and swishing tail in an agitated manner
🐴 overall restlessness
🐴 head/neck shaking, strained yawning, pawing
🐴 repeatedly laying down and getting up or rolling (he was doing this in his pasture before this video)
It’s important to consult your vet when you suspect colic. These symptoms are not an exhaustive list, and displaying these symptoms doesn’t necessarily mean colic, however, when observed together are likely to indicate the horse is uncomfortable and needing some sort of intervention.

"It’s been quite a full day (but that’s pretty typical around here).
What’s not typical (thankfully) is Cyrus deciding he wanted more attention from the techs and vets at the vet hospital earning himself another day of close observation and treatment with NG fluids. He displayed some additional colic symptoms this morning and passed some very firm mucus covered manure indicating there was indeed an impaction. He has been doing better later in the day and we are hopeful he will finally get to come home tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for our silly, sweet guy!
Back at the Ranch we had all the usual activities of one-on-one sessions, our amazing Volunteers taking care of our herd, the tack sale, and a great group of community volunteers helping with some pasture maintenance.
The tack sale continues next week, so be sure to come and pick up some amazing things while supporting the Ranch!
After all the busy of the day, I was able to spend some time with Dove (our July rescue in rehabilitation from severe neglect and founder). She is still receiving excellent care and therapeutic treatments being given by Equine Performax Therapy and Conditioning . They are working so hard on helping her heal and we couldn’t be more grateful. She got to enjoy some time taking a short walk outside with me (Carissa) at sunset. She seemed to really appreciate the fresh air and took in all the sights of the beautiful evening.
It may sound like a lot, but it’s just another day in another week of all the amazing work being done here at Freedom Reigns Ranch (although, we could have done without the colic 😉). Thank you to every single person who makes it possible by volunteering, giving, praying, and supporting in so many ways!"
