"Our prayer over you, the person viewing this, this morning… 💕"

"Hey “EA” Programs, we need to chat…
A somewhat disturbing trend in “equine assisted” realm is a lack of respecting the horse as an individual and understanding the requirements of excellent care and stewardship of our equine partners.
This isn’t reserved exclusively to “helping” programs, as it is seen to a degree in every industry involving horses. However, as a program within the Equine-Assisted Services category, I feel it is important to hold accountability to our own.
Proverbs 27:23 tells us to “Be sure to know the state of your flocks, pay close attention to your herds.”
So for those of us who follow Jesus, it is Biblical instruction to do so. We are to be good stewards of the horses He has entrusted to our care.
This includes:
-Standard routine vet, farrier, and dental care, and supplemental support of alternative (IE. Chiropractic) care as needed.
-Maintaining suitable body condition, both for weight and topline. (There is never a reason for a horse in your herd to be under a BCS 4/over a BCS 6 for an extended period of time.)
-A nutritional ration of forage, feed, supplements, and medication to support excellent condition.
-Educating yourself enough to know how to provide standard first aid and triage (including vitals, wound care, emergency protocol, etc.) and a routine for checking over each individual daily.
-Educating yourself on understanding equine body language and how to respond appropriately.
-Knowing and implementing a standard of safety for all who interact with horses.
-Honoring limits that are as unique as each animal in interactions with humans.
-Investing in professional training for challenges that present themselves if you lack the ability or time to address challenges.
-Ensuring the lifelong well being of every animal that has been of service to you/your program/your organization beyond their “useful” life.
Please view your horses as partners. Their care and wellbeing is paramount and should never be anything less than excellent.
We are proud to do so at Freedom Reigns Ranch, and happy to share our best practices with you to use if you need guidance.
For Jesus, His kids, and His horses-

"Dr. Grace Butler recently came out and made sure all the little 4 legged animals on the Ranch were healthy and vaccinated. 🐈 They all got gold stars! ✨
Thomas gave our newly transplanted apple trees a checkup and we were excited to learn they should survive transplant shock. 🌳 🍎 He also planted some veggies in our raised beds from @bonnieplants .
We’re exciting for how our Orchard and Community Garden is starting to take shape!
It takes a village to run a youth ranch, and we’re so thankful for all the unique ways people bring their support to make this amazing place possible!"
